It’s getting colder…

As it’s getting into the colder months it’s imperative that we take care of ourselves. It is so easy to get caught up in your work and work yourself silly to meet deadlines, get clients, impress your boss etc etc etc. You know we’ve all been there.

I know I know, what does this have to do with websites and marketing?? Marketing Fuel has many things we do in the office to try and stay fresh and energised so we can achieve our best work – we thought we’d share the love and give you our top 5 tips to staying healthy in today’s busy work environment. As we say in our office, if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.

  1. Water water water!!

We all know that we need to drink water, and it’s often the first thing that we forget to drink! I have a 1 liter carafe I bought from Kmart for $1.50 (#loveKmart) and have given myself the goal of drinking 2 of these each day. Throughout my busy day I often ‘forget’ how many glasses I’ve drunk so keeping count of only 2 carafes is so much easier!! Each time we top up our water we remind each other to drink water – it’s a great motivator!

2. Allow time for yourself, doing what YOU love

Both of us are extremely busy outside of work with our individual passions and we love it!! Nami has a passion for fashion (I’m a poet!) and I have a passion for singing. This helps us keep creative in the workplace and keep the fire going in the office AND outside the office. If you don’t have a hobby, find one! It could be a walk, time with family, cooking – anything really that helps to keep your mind off work and allows you time for yourself.

3. SOUP

We LOVE homemade soup and it has become a bit of a friendly challenge in the office. We make bulk soup batches and share between us. This way we get to try each other’s soup recipes AND get our daily dose of vegies – it’s a win-win! (Nami’s soups are the best…but don’t tell her I said that).

4. Less coffee…more tea

There is NOTHING like a good cuppa tea…yes, we’re young and yes we like our tea. We have a communal tea cupboard filled with different herbal teas that each have different benefits. From relaxation tea to immune-strengthening tea to tea that’s good for your skin – we have it all. Our personal fav is licorice tea – good for upset stomachs to the common cold and it’s sooooo good! (if you don’t like black licorice then this is probably not for you…). Not only does tea taste good, but it also gives our eyes a much-needed rest from the computer for a couple of minutes whilst we make a round of tea. Cuppa anyone?

5. Get. Out. Of. The. Office

Some days, you just need to get out of the office. If you need to take a 5-minute walk outside, or simply pop out for some fresh air then do it. You will come back into the office feeling refreshed and ready to tackle whatever has landed in your inbox. Time and time again we feel like we can’t afford to take a break, especially if we have a big deadline to meet, but taking a short walk can often provide big benefits that will help you meet that deadline more effectively than if you just pushed through. Often when I feel stuck, I will head out of the office for some fresh air and more often than not, an idea will pop into my mind during or immediately following my micro-break!

We are not doctors, or health practitioners of any sort. What we are is creative people with a passion for helping others achieve their best work. From helping you build a fantastic website to having a great social media presence to helping you take care of yourself in your day to day work – it’s just what we do!
